GeoPave offers a full turn-key stabilisation service to Contractors and Developers nationally. This approach allows all the potential benefits to be achieved from using the proprietary binders as the full turnkey service can be taken on in-house by professionals who are experienced in using the Proprietary Binders to their full potential.
This approach is aimed at giving the client the confidence that the job is being constructed to its maximum potential and therefore minimizing costs, carbon footprint and material to landfill whilst producing a structure that has an end performance that is equal to or above what could be achieved through traditional methods.

Pre-Design

From the ground Investigation Report and site drawings Geopave will be able to establish which stabilized materials and Hydraulically Bound Mixtures will best meet the requirements of the scheme and give the best end performance and savings compared to traditional methods. A full test suite of UKAS accredited laboratory tests will be provided to the Client to verify that the stabilized materials and Hydraulically Bound Mixtures meet the design specifications.

Design

GeoPave will offer a design package to construct the capping; sub-base and base layers for a project.

  • Specification of sub-base and base material including full testing regime
  • Depth and level of base course and surface course required

The design and material will typically be compliant with the following standards and specifications:

  • Specification for Highways Works 600 Series Stabilised Capping Materials
  • HA 74/07 Stabilised Capping Materials
  • Specification for Highways Works 800 Series Sub-Base and base Hydraulically Bound Mixtures
  • BSEN14227 Sub-Base and base Hydraulically Bound Mixtures
  • IAN 73/06 revision 1 2009 – Foundation Design (capping & sub-base layers)
  • HD 26/06 Base Layer Design

Build

Geopave will construct the above capping, sub-base and base layers using the Proprietary Binders. All of these layers will be constructed to the relevant SHW 600 and/or 800 Series and BS EN 14227 standard.

The addition of the Proprietary Binders will aim to be achieved on-site using raw materials from our local quarries. This will help minimise transport, job time and carbon footprint:

Once the raw materials have been delivered to the job site from the local Geopave quarry they will be placed at the relevant layer depths to create the capping; sub-base and base layers required for the structure at the job site. After each layer is laid Geopave will level and compact the layer to the requirements of the Client. Geopave offers a full surfacing process in addition to this to provide the full turn-key approach:

  • Geopave deliver pre-processed stabilised capping materials to site.
  • Geopave lay the stabilised capping material and trim.
  • Geopave compact the stabilised capping material and then trim to level.
  • Geopave deliver pre-processed Hydraulically Bound Mixture to site to be used as the sub-base.
  • Geopave lay the Hydraulically Bound Mixture to the required depth and trim.
  • Geopave compact the Hydraulically Bound Mixture and then trim to level.
  • Geopave deliver pre-processed Hydraulically Bound Mixture to site to be used as the base layer.
  • Geopave lay the Hydraulically Bound Mixture to the required depth and trim.
  • Geopave compact the Hydraulically Bound Mixture and then trim to level.
  • Geopave import the surfacing material, lay compact and trim to level.

Testing

Throughout the process Geopave will test the stabilised materials and Hydraulically Bound Mixtures to ensure that they are meeting the required specifications and performance requirements. This includes

On-Going Testing

While the job is underway continuous testing will be undertaken. Material will be regularly sampled and sent off-site for testing by a UKAS laboratory.

Validation Testing

In-situ testing will be undertaken using the Lightweight Deflectometer or equivalent to ensure that the required end performance strengths have been achieved. Again this will be undertaken by a UKAS accredited laboratory.
